Before specializing in family law, I practised corporate and commercial law at a mid-sized firm. While I enjoyed that work, I wanted to connect more directly with people. Guiding clients through the disputes and life-changing decisions inherent in family law has been exactly what I was looking for. I also draw on my corporate background when negotiating the reorganization and division of complex family assets such as family corporations, real estate, and other holdings.
I know firsthand how significant these moments can be, as my parents divorced when I was young. While it wasn’t always easy, they did their best to move through the process collaboratively; and that’s something I try to bring to my own work. Not every case can or should be resolved outside of court, but when it’s possible, collaboration can have lasting benefits—especially for children. When litigation is necessary, I bring the insight I gained as a judicial intern to the judges of the Provincial Court of British Columbia, where I attended proceedings and supported judges with research and drafting. That experience informs my in-court practice to this day.
Prior to law school, I worked full time with an individual with Autism, an experience that continues to shape my life and practice. I am especially passionate about helping separated parents navigate the challenges of co-parenting neurodivergent children, when thoughtful and individualized solutions make a world of difference.
I understand no two families are the same, and no two cases should be treated alike. Whether your matter proceeds to court or resolves outside of it, my role is to advise you, advocate for you, and guide you through this demanding process.
Outside of work, I enjoy reading, golfing, and spending time with my wife and our young daughter. Thanks to my wife’s love of travel, I’ve discovered corners of the world I never would have sought out on my own. She has a knack for pulling me out of my comfort zone in the best way.
