When you work with a family lawyer who only uses unlimited retainers and charges based on the time they spend working on your file, it can be hard to get a sense at the outset of how much it might all end up costing you.
At Align Family Law, we do things differently. We provide our clients with a range of options for legal representation. You choose how much help you get with your family law matter.
For some clients, it makes sense to hire Align Family Law to represent them in all aspects of their case and handle all issues, negotiations and document preparation. In this full representation model, you are charged for the time the lawyer spends on your family matter.
Other clients may want help with only specific parts of their case, and they can pick from our menu of services on a flat-rate basis.
We also offer Legal Coaching, where we coach people who are representing themselves in their family law case through scheduled coaching sessions.
Each situation is different, but here are the steps we generally follow:
1
Conflict Search
We ensure there is no potential conflict of interest.2
Initial Consultation & Strategy Session
You fill out our questionnaire with the details of your family and situation. We meet via Zoom or in-person to discuss your situation in detail. We provide legal advice and information on your rights, obligations and options.3
Define Scope of Work
If we both decide to work together, we will sign an engagement agreement that sets out the scope and cost of the work Align Family Law will be doing for you.4
